About

I have been a full-time artist since 2004. Thankfully this has allowed me to travel the world, and during these explorations, I try to collect beads, fabric, weavings, biomorphic shaped creations, ceramics, and tools. I like to have fun with my creations, whether it be paintings or clothing; clashing patterns, embracing color and layering styles from different eras is my favorite way to express my visual language through jewelry. With all of my creations and accessories, I want to make something unusual that is comfortable and will last the test of time and physical use.

My training as a visual artist imbues my visual language into the jewelry, stickers & prints offered here in my small business. Since each piece is handmade by order, I am open to size changes and alterations. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions. Thank you so much for taking the time to take a peek!

Please note: If a beaded piece breaks, I’ll happily restring as long as you are able to collect most of the pieces and pay for shipping.

Carrie Marill Artist Bio

Carrie Marill was born in San Francisco, CA in 1976. As an artist, she draws inspiration from a vast body of research - from folk art quilts and Persian miniatures to propaganda posters and industrial design. Marill is inspired by the tension between ornament and object, intellectual and aesthetic. She approaches each work with a disciplined philosophy of color and form to entice her audience to engage her work on many levels of beauty, concept, and the invitation to lose themselves in art amongst the noise of the contemporary world.

In addition to displaying her work at galleries and institutions internationally, Marill’s practice includes developing large-scale outdoor murals for public and private clients. Marill also designs and creates jewelry, prints, clothing, and accessories for her lifestyle business called Punkwasp allowing her to share her aesthetic and artistic vision with a wider audience.

Marill graduated from San Francisco State University in 2002 with a BA in Painting and received an MFA in Painting from Cornell University in 2004. Her artwork has been exhibited throughout the United States in California, New York, Seattle, Miami, Dallas, and Arizona. Marill's work has been published in New American Paintings, Wired Magazine, Southwest Art, The New Times, The Wall Street Journal, Modern Painters, LA Weekly, and the LA Times. Her work is in the collection of Todd Oldham, Missoni, Disney, Tiffany’s, The Hallmark Collection, and many other exciting collectors.
